David Maginley's NDE Tree

The Story
David McGinley was a 27-year-old student minister when a rare cancer tumor called paraganglioma on his femoral artery caused him to collapse in a hospital chapel during a sermon preparation. The tumor released chemicals that stopped his heart for 15 minutes. During the NDE, he appeared on a grassy hill with a tree at the top. He felt one with love, the grass, and the tree. A masculine figure like a best friend welcomed him home. The figure said his life was going well but he had work to do and must return. David protested, but the figure placed a hand on his shoulder, infusing love, and said they would be with him. He returned to his body. After the NDE, David took years to integrate it. It shifted his theology to focus on love, consciousness, and unity. He became a chaplain supporting cancer patients and those dying, wrote a book on spiritual journeys through illness, and practiced energy healing like Therapeutic Touch.
“knew if i did i'd never come back here right so i knew i wasn't here yeah i was”
The NDE occurred during a severe medical crisis with 15 minutes of no heartbeat and CPR, providing strong evidence of compromised brain function. However, there are no veridical perception claims whatsoever; the experience was entirely a subjective visionary encounter on a grassy hill with a tree and a figure, explicitly without any out-of-body component or observations of the physical scene.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.

Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
