The Story
Louie Bis was a 34-year-old man recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. He suffered heatstroke during the seven-mile Falmouth Road Race in Massachusetts in early August. During the NDE, Louie left his body and watched medics put him in an ice bath to cool his overheating body. He found their serious efforts funny. He tried to go toward a tunnel of light, but his ego reminded him of his mother and friends who would be sad if he died. He decided to return to his body and answered the nurse's question about feeling pain. After the NDE, Louie understood he had a spiritual destiny to fulfill and could not die yet. He stopped his extreme exercise habits, finished his recovery program, studied A Course in Miracles, and became a spiritual teacher helping others.
“just end your life as you knew it right would have been a professor had a few”
The primary NDE during heatstroke involves an OBE with observation of medics, but lacks independent verification, specific unique details, unpredictability beyond standard medical procedures, and any mention of prompt reporting or confirmation attempts. Other incidents like the car crash lack veridical perceptions altogether.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
