NDE led to OUT-of-BODY EXPERIENCES Joseph Banks part 1
What Researchers Found
The Story
Joseph Banks was an airplane fuel tank worker in Tennessee in 2011. He passed out twice in a confined space due to a faulty mask and became unconscious at home, triggering his near-death experience. During the NDE, he arrived in a strange place on a small bus and stepped into a beautiful area with unique light and vibrating sound. He entered a theater-like building with a tree instead of a roof. He saw his deceased great aunt, who raised him, and realized he had died; they shared a soothing eye contact and smiles. He walked out, saw a grand tree with a golden mango, and waited for it to fall. A smiling man told him he must return; after agreeing, the man touched his chest, shocking him awake. After the NDE, Joseph experienced sleep paralysis that led to out-of-body travels. He discovered past lives, including as a college professor, and changed his name to Joseph Banks in 2016. He gained a new understanding of soul immortality, reincarnation, and loving connections across lives.

This NDE account contains no veridical perceptions of physical reality during unconsciousness, consisting entirely of an otherworldly visionary experience with predictable elements like greeting by a deceased relative. Absent are any claims of impossible sensory access to verifiable real-world details, such as medical procedures or conversations. While a later OBE includes a self-reported verification of a spirit's identity, it does not pertain to the NDE itself, limiting overall evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Was this Evidence Strength score useful?
Was this Experience Depth score useful?
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Was this Life Impact score useful?
